16 This is the land that Joshua gave to the descendants of Joseph.^[a] Their land went from the Jordan River at Jericho, and from there it went through the desert into the hills of Bethel.

² The south border of their land went from Bethel, to Luz, and then to the land of the Arkites at Ataroth.
